A Poem from the Early Twentieth Century

A Decade
 - by Amy Lowell

When you came, you were like red wine and honey,
And the taste of you burnt my mouth with its sweetness.
Now you are like morning bread,
Smooth and pleasant.
I hardly taste you at all for I know your savour,
But I am completely nourished.

September 11th - Kinky for America

posted Sep 11, 2010, 4:04 PM by Mr. M   [ updated Sep 11, 2010, 4:05 PM ]

Today is a day, like that of Pearl Harbor, for us to reflect and to celebrate being Americans.

The 9/11 attack came just before the season premier of West Wing, and so they replaced their premier with a special episode/play called "Issac and Ishmael." During it at one point the following is offered:

"Islamic Fundamentalists are to Islam as KKK is to Christianity."

That is the type of hate, and the level of minority of which we speak. Let us not condemn a nation or a religion because of the actions of a few.

Moreover the episode points out that the thing the people who sent those planes hate most about us is that we are a pluralistic society. We accept more than one idea as possibly correct. We do not strictly adhere to only one way of thinking. So I put this forth to you all that practice an alternate sexuality. To all of you who would have it known that you approach the world and your relationships differently then the standard and fight for your right to do so.

Today I am Kinky for America.

Weekly Question 8-17-10

posted Aug 19, 2010, 12:08 PM by Mr. M   [ updated Oct 14, 2010, 11:21 AM ]

As you may or may not know I administer a TNG group in Western Massachusetts called the Society of the Young and Competent. As part of my duties for this group I try to post weekly questions. I believe I will start re-posting them here as well.

As we move forward and alternative sexuality becomes more acceptable, we see
images of it cropping up within popular culture. In terms of BDSM however, there
seems to be a definitive dynamic occurring. In this presentation Mistresses are
given a fairly fair shake, some are stupid evil-doers (Britney Spears), and some
seem to be pretty decent examples (Lady Heather in CSI). But with a couple
notable exceptions the male dominants seem only capable of deep seated problems,
most notably for me the parole officer in "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo."

Why do you think this dichotomy exists? Are there positive aspects to it? What
is the greater harm that might arise?

As always I look forward to your answers.

Be well and play safe,
- Mr.M
